In an effort to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024, Bangladesh is playing a series against the USA. Despite his off-field controversies, Shakib Al Hasan, the renowned Bangladesh cricketer, has been a key player for his country for many years. With an impressive record in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, he has earned the title of world No. 1 all-rounder in T20Is.
However, Shakib’s off-field activities have also made headlines. In a Dhaka Premier League match where Shakib was playing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, a man approached him for a selfie which angered him. After refusing initially, he eventually grabbed the man by the neck and almost beat him up.
Despite the controversy surrounding him, Shakib has expressed his dissatisfaction with Bangladesh’s preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. He believes that the team’s performance in the previous World Cup was reasonable but not exceptional, and they have a chance to surpass that benchmark with better preparation. However, he acknowledges that getting accustomed to the conditions of the USA where the tournament will be held may not be ideal preparation.
