The Insecurity Insight session at HNPW 2024 will focus on ensuring access to healthcare through community support and better security risk management in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This session will analyze the risks and impacts of attacks against the health system on service delivery, staff, and affected communities. The primary focus is on the situation in the DRC, but the findings may have relevance for other countries facing similar violations of the right to health.

A new study examining the impact of violence against healthcare on maternal and children’s health care in Eastern DRC is now available in English and French. The study sheds light on the challenges faced in providing healthcare services in conflict-affected areas.

The Semaine 2024 du réseau et des pratiques humanitaires will feature a panel discussion on guaranteeing access to healthcare through community support and improved security risk management for hospitals in the DRC. The session will explore the results of an operational approach to risk analysis and the impact assessment of attacks on the health system. This event, scheduled for 3 May from 15:00-16:30 CET, will be conducted in French with English translation provided. Registration is open for those interested in attending.

Another session at the event will focus on security planning and security risk management, addressing current challenges and strategies to help organizations and healthcare providers adapt to changing situations. The session will take place on 6 May 2024 from 14:00-15:30 CET, with options for both virtual and in-person attendance at CICG Geneva Plenary B. Registration is required to participate.

Finally, a session will explore how security analysis optimizes humanitarian operations by facilitating the delivery of aid. This discussion will involve input from security analysts, emergency practitioners, and other stakeholders in the humanitarian and health community. The session is scheduled for 3 May 2024 from 14:00-15:30 CET
