In January 2024, SABIC Fujian Petrochemicals awarded KBR a contract to license its phenol technology in China. The project involves providing technology licensing and engineering design for a phenol plant with a capacity of 250,000 tons per year at SABIC’s Fujian Petrochemical Complex. The plant is expected to be completed by 2026, marking a significant milestone for both companies.
Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, expressed excitement about the opportunity to collaborate with SABIC Fujian on this project in China. “We are thrilled to be working with SABIC Fujian on this exciting project,” said Ibrahim. “Our commitment to offering industry-leading technology that enhances customers’ competitiveness and sustainability goals through improved efficiency, reliability, wastewater recovery, and performance is at the core of our business.”
KBR’s phenol technology offers a sustainable solution that reduces energy consumption and improves yields, setting it apart from other options available in the market. This makes it an attractive choice for companies looking to reduce their environmental impact while still maintaining high levels of production output.
