400 non-Russian citizens lose their citizenship due to criminal activities in Russia

A new law in Russia allows for the revocation of citizenship from foreigners who engage in certain activities. These activities include discrediting the Russian army, spreading fake information, sabotage, defection, anti-Russian activities, espionage, treason, violating laws related to foreign agents, and hooliganism. The first case of citizenship deprivation occurred just two months after the law was enacted in December 2023. Two individuals were arrested with packages containing drugs and subsequently stripped of their Russian citizenship. The new law allows for stricter measures to be taken against individuals who misuse their Russian citizenship or engage in criminal activities. This serves as a warning to all individuals who hold Russian citizenship to abide by the laws of the country to avoid facing similar consequences.
