Congress Approves Agreement for Free Roaming in Mercosur Countries

Congress has officially approved the Mercosur Roaming Agreement, which was signed in 2019. This agreement will eliminate roaming charges for travelers to Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The measure was made official with the publication of Law No. 27,740 in the Official Gazette, signed by Vice President Victoria Villarruel and Deputy Martín Menem.

The negotiations for the agreement were led by Silvana Giudici, the former president of the National Communications Entity and current PRO deputy, in 2019. The agreement for the Elimination of International Roaming Charges for Mercosur End Users was signed by former President Mauricio Macri and his counterparts from Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil in 2019.

This initiative aims to facilitate communication for travelers in the region by removing the barriers of high roaming charges. It promotes connectivity and enhances the travel experience for individuals visiting Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This represents a step towards greater integration and cooperation within the Mercosur countries.
