Sangbok Kim, a Teaching Professor of Korean in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 ASSETT Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award. This prestigious award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in incorporating technology into their teaching practices. Nominations for the award can come from peers or students, and awardees must show a strong commitment and leadership in advancing teaching and learning within the college.
Professor Kim was chosen by a student-led committee because his nomination best represented the criteria for excellence in teaching with technology. One student who nominated him praised his innovative use of various technological tools such as shared OneDrive documents, AI, PIP Lang (which he helped develop), and other resources that enhance the learning experience both inside and outside of the classroom.
The student noted that Professor Kim’s use of technology has greatly improved their learning experience, enabling better collaboration within the class and more efficient learning. They expressed confidence that Professor Kim’s methods will continue to evolve and benefit many more students in the future.
