The former Chapel Hill Mall, located in Akron between Brittain Road, Buchholzer Boulevard, and Howe and Independence avenues, has undergone a significant transformation. Previously a massive 900,000 square feet mall, it is now operating as a business park owned by Industrial Commercial Properties and Storage of America. The complex owned by ICP at 2000 Brittain Road spans 715,000 square feet on 60 acres of land. In addition to the main building, Storage of America owns a 169,000 square foot building at the former Macy’s location on 8 acres of land.
Despite the changes, there are still opportunities for businesses to lease space in the park. Currently, there are 40,826 square feet available for leasing. Since its closure in 2021, four new businesses have already been established in the complex. It is worth noting that Storage of America had already purchased the former Macy’s building in 2019 prior to the mall’s closure. Overall, the revitalization of the former Chapel Hill Mall into a thriving business park under new ownership promises to bring economic growth to Akron.
