City Council Meeting Recognizes Businesses of the Quarter in Santa Maria Chamber

During a recent meeting of the Santa Maria City Council, two local businesses were recognized for their longstanding presence in the community and their positive impact on the area. Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum were named the Santa Maria businesses of the quarter for April through June 2024.

Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service, located at 320 Oak St. in Santa Maria, has been serving residential and commercial customers since it was founded in 1991 by Daniel Keuma after he relocated from Hawaii. Over time, the company has grown from a one-truck operation to seven trucks and eight employees. In addition to providing top-notch plumbing services, Arrow Plumbing is actively involved in supporting community events and charities. Daniel’s son, Kaniela, has big plans for the future of the business.

Trojan Petroleum, located at 1665 West Betteravia Rd. in Santa Maria, was founded 43 years ago by Bud and Ebba Richards. The company has evolved into a full-service petroleum distributor that specializes in delivering fuel to farm locations and job sites throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. They are also an independently owned Pacific Pride cardlock site with 15 delivery trucks. Trojan Petroleum is an active member of numerous local civic groups and takes pride in giving back to the community through various initiatives and partnerships.

The Business of the Quarter program, launched by the City of Santa Maria and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, aims to highlight different businesses operating within the city’s limits each quarter based on specific criteria such as having fewer than 20 employees, being in operation for at least five years, being a local chamber of commerce member in good standing, among others. This program provides valuable exposure to selected businesses while reminding residents about the unique, diverse, and longstanding companies that contribute to Santa Maria’s economic fabric. The full ceremony honoring Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum can be viewed via the City’s livestream of their Tuesday City Council meeting session.

In conclusion, Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum are two outstanding examples of how small businesses can positively impact their communities over time with hard work and dedication towards giving back to society while making profits too.
