Four local high schools join forces for ‘Raise Your Voice Mental Health Awareness Walk/Run’

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s an opportunity to discuss the importance of mental health issues that affect many individuals. In the Wausau area, local ‘Raise Your Voice’ clubs are working to encourage open conversations about mental health.

Haley Kerswill, an advisor for Raise Your Voice at Wausau West, emphasized the significance of starting conversations about mental health to reduce the stigma surrounding it. By bringing awareness to the issue, the hope is to create a more supportive and understanding community.

The annual ‘Raise Your Voice Mental Health Awareness Walk’ at Wausau West High School has expanded to include participation from three other area schools: Wausau East, D.C. Everest, and Marathon. Despite their usual rivalries in sports and other activities, these schools are coming together in collaboration to support the cause of mental health awareness.

Braden Zoromski, the Student President of ‘Raise Your Voice’ at D.C. Everest, highlighted the importance of community unity in addressing mental health issues. By setting aside competition and focusing on a common goal, these schools are working together to fight the battle against mental health challenges.
