In the city of Starnberg, violent storms caused widespread flooding as they moved across southern Bavaria. The storm front brought hailstorms and heavy rainfall, leading to extreme weather conditions. Emergency services responded to over 50 missions, with the B2 highway being closed due to the severity of the situation.
Within just five minutes, up to seven liters of water per square meter fell in some areas, resulting in impassable streets and stranded drivers in the city center. The district town of Starnberg was particularly affected, with some streets being closed off and major roads like the B2 and A 952 becoming temporarily impassable.
The sewerage system struggled to handle the excess water, leading to flooding in various properties throughout the area. Emergency services also had to respond to incidents in Pöcking and other nearby areas. Despite these challenges, there were no reports of injuries, but events like the French Week in Starnberg were forced to be canceled.
In response to the storm, the district fire inspection set up its operations center in the district office and called for assistance from neighboring fire departments. The community came together to support one another and address the aftermath of the storm.
