Week 4 of the 2024 Memphis area high school spring sports season saw some outstanding performances. In baseball, CBHS defeated Houston 11-1, with Riley Goodman as the winning pitcher who struck out eight batters in just three innings. Hank Stalnaker led the team with two RBIs and two stolen bases, while Holden Robinson and Will Brick each added two RBIs as well.
Meanwhile, FACS beat Lausanne 12-6, with Kayden Hartunian as the winning pitcher who pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits while striking out 11 batters. In softball, Brighton defeated Collierville 12-0, with Aliya Garcia going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Houston took down Bartlett 11-10, with Maddie McClure going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Maci Frederick was also impressive in this game, scoring two runs on just two hits. Ella McKnight had an excellent performance as well by scoring twice on just two hits. St. Benedict beat Munford 2-0, thanks to Jorja Wheeler who pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits while striking out an impressive 11 batters. Izzy Henderson and Charlee Smith were also instrumental in their team’s success by scoring two hits each.
In boys soccer, Northpoint defeated Brighton 6-0, thanks to Miller Lashlee who scored five goals and had an assist too. Eli Bailey had a remarkable performance by providing three assists in this matchup. In girls lacrosse, ECS beat St. George’s 10-8 thanks to Sarah Grace Clinton’s six goals and Rachel Cochran’s three goals respectively.
On Monday, Briarcrest defeated Munford 6-0 in boys soccer when Chandler Cross scored two goals for their team while Coleman Loving added one goal too. Andrew Painter contributed to their victory by scoring one goal and having one assist too.
