In 2023, the NFL lost a talented athlete in the form of Korey Cunningham, a former offensive lineman who played for three different teams over five years. At just 28 years old, Cunningham’s body was discovered in his home in Clifton, New Jersey after police responded to a report from a concerned family member who could not reach him.
Although authorities have not released the cause of Cunningham’s death yet, they have stated that it is currently under investigation. There is no suspicion of foul play involved in his passing.
Cunningham began his professional football career as a seventh-round draft pick for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 after playing college football at the University of Cincinnati. He later went on to play for the New England Patriots for parts of two seasons before joining the New York Giants in 2021, where he remained for two years. Unfortunately, Cunningham did not participate in the NFL during the 2023 season. His unexpected death has left friends, family and fans mourning the loss of a talented athlete taken far too soon.
