According to a report by Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal, the NFL has announced that it will release the full 2024 schedule on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET. This is a change from previous signs that indicated the schedule would be released next week, as reported by PFT.
The memo from the NFL’s executive vice president of media distribution, Hans Schroeder, informed teams of the upcoming release date on Tuesday. Initially, teams were anticipating the schedule to be released on Thursday, but there was no reason given for the delay in the memo.
It is possible that the delay was due to the league’s decision to schedule two games on Wednesday, December 25th, despite Schroeder stating earlier that there would be no games on Christmas if it fell on a Tuesday or Wednesday. This decision required the league to select Christmas matchups and coordinate with broadcast rights and schedules for four participating teams to also play on the preceding Saturday.
Regardless of why there was a delay, fans can expect to see the full 2024 schedule soon. However, it may not be released as quickly as originally anticipated.
