Newman Regional Health Celebrates 300th Procedure with Da Vinci Robot-Assisted Surgical System

Newman Regional Health recently celebrated a milestone with its da Vinci Robot-Assisted Surgical System reaching its 300th procedure. Dr. Tim Harris, the surgeon responsible for both the first and 300th procedures, shared his excitement about the numerous benefits of the system. Surgeon Dr. Bradon Bitter also expressed his enthusiasm at having such advanced technology available in Emporia.

The da Vinci system was installed in June 2022 after approval from the Board of Trustees in December 2021. Surgeons can use a control system that eliminates tremors while performing procedures, enhancing precision. The system features high-tech surgical arms with robotic wrists that allow for 360-degree movement and a three-dimensional high-definition monitor with up to 10-power magnification, providing surgeons with an optimal field of vision.

Currently, the da Vinci system is being used for various surgeries, including general surgery, gall bladder removal, hernia repair, prostate surgery, hysterectomies, gynecological procedures, and colorectal surgeries. The advanced technology has revolutionized the way these procedures are performed, offering enhanced precision and outcomes for patients.

The installation of the da Vinci Robot-Assisted Surgical System was made possible by Newman Regional Health’s commitment to providing its patients with state-of-the-art medical care. The system offers several advantages over traditional surgical techniques, including reduced blood loss and pain medication requirements, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times.

Dr. Harris emphasized how grateful he is for having access to this cutting-edge technology. “The da Vinci system has made a significant difference in my ability to perform complex surgeries with greater precision and accuracy,” he said.

Bitter added that having such advanced technology available in Emporia has allowed him to offer his patients more options when it comes to their healthcare needs.

Overall, Newman Regional Health’s commitment to investing in state-of-the-art medical equipment has enabled it to provide its patients with some of the best care available today. With continued advancements in technology like the da Vinci Robot-Assisted Surgical System, Newman Regional Health will continue to lead the way in modern medicine for years to come.

In conclusion, Newman Regional Health recently celebrated reaching a milestone of 300 procedures using its robotic surgery arm called da Vinci Robot Assisted Surgical System (dVSS). The dVSS was installed following approval from board of trustees in December 2021 and is being used for different types of surgeries including general surgery and colorectal surgeries among others. Dr Tim Harris expressed his gratitude at having access to this cutting edge technology while Dr Bradon Bitter shared his excitement at having such advanced equipment available in Emporia.
