Indiana’s largest amusement park, Holiday World, is kicking off the spring with the unveiling of its new Thanksgiving-themed area. The main attraction in this area is the ‘Good Gravy!’ ride, an oversized interpretation of Thanksgiving dinner that has been generating a lot of buzz.
The ‘Good Gravy!’ ride features riders sitting in gravy boat trains and speeding out of grandma’s house, passing through a giant can of cranberry sauce, and going past a towering milk jug. This coaster is a family-friendly example of a “boomerang” ride, where riders experience both forward and backward rides using the same tracks. While some boomerang coasters in other parks feature extreme twists, turns, and loops for advanced riders, ‘Good Gravy!’ is a relatively tame ride with a minimum height requirement of 38 inches.
The new ride is located in the Thanksgiving-themed area alongside other attractions like “Turkey Whirl” and “Gobblers Getaway.” Holiday World recently auctioned off the first rides on ‘Good Gravy!’ to raise money for the North Spencer Community Action Center. The first rides took place on May 3, with exclusive access for Platinum and Season Pass members on May 4 and 5. The park opens to all visitors on Saturday, with single-day passes starting at $39.99. Splashin’ Safari, the water park, opens the following weekend with increased prices. Both parks are operating on a cashless system, and Holiday World is scheduled to close in October.
Holiday World owner Leah Koch-Blumhardt stated that she expects ‘Good Gravy!’ to be a popular attraction this season due to its unique concept and family-friendly nature.
Overall, Holiday World continues to provide guests with exciting new attractions and experiences while also giving back to the community through charitable events like this one.
