Uganda has announced its squad for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. This will be Uganda’s first appearance in a senior men’s ICC World Cup in any format, marking a significant milestone for the team.
Brian Masaba has been appointed as the captain of the team, leading a squad of 15 players. Frank Nsubuga, an offspinning allrounder who will be the oldest player in the tournament at 43 years old, has been named as the vice-captain. Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze will serve as two traveling reserve players for the team.
Uganda qualified for the tournament alongside Namibia from the Africa leg of the qualifiers, beating out teams like Zimbabwe to secure their spot. The team is placed in Group C alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and West Indies. Their first match will take place against Afghanistan on June 4th in Providence, Guyana.
