Website Launched by Agencies to Report Anticompetitive Health Care Practices

The Federal Trade Commission, Justice Department, and Department of Health and Human Services launched HealthyCompetition.gov on April 18 as an online platform for individuals to report potentially unfair and anticompetitive health care practices. By providing a channel for reporting, this new portal aims to strengthen the agencies’ efforts in upholding fair competition in the health care industry.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra underscored the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to combatting monopolistic and anti-competitive behaviors that impede the delivery of healthcare to Americans. Public input through the portal will play a critical role in identifying and addressing these harmful practices, helping to create a more competitive and transparent healthcare market.

FTC Chair Lina Khan emphasized the importance of the portal as a way for the agencies to hear directly from the public, enabling them to address illegal business practices that harm consumers and workers. This new portal allows individuals to bring attention to any actions that may violate antitrust laws or HHS regulations, which will be reviewed by the FTC and the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division for further investigation.
