A world-class science center is set to open in downtown Allentown, bringing with it an exciting array of new exhibits. The Da Vinci Science Center at PPL Pavilion, replacing the current facility on Cedar Crest College’s campus, will officially open to the public on May 22. The first exhibit, Dinos Alive, will feature 30 life-sized animated dinosaurs, offering visitors an immersive experience from turkey-sized Velociraptors to the mighty T-rex.
The new education center is a state-of-the-art 67,000 square-foot facility that provides interactive experiences for visitors of all ages. From exploring the inner workings of the human body in the LVHN My Body exhibit to up-close encounters with North American River Otters in the Pocono Ravine, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. “Our vision for a world-class science center would not have come to fruition without strong support from everyone in the Lehigh Valley and beyond,” said Lin Erickson, executive director and CEO.
In addition to the exhibit galleries, the Da Vinci Science Center at PPL Pavilion will offer amenities such as fully equipped classrooms, cutting-edge laboratories, and interactive workshops to spark creativity. There will also be a rooftop terrace available for private events, adding to the overall visitor experience. With its mission to bring science to life and lives to science, the new science center aims to immerse visitors in unique experiences inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s insatiable curiosity.
