NBC Sports has been the media home of the Kentucky Derby for over 23 years, and with a new agreement that extends their partnership with Churchill Downs Incorporated through 2032, this tradition will continue. This milestone marks the first time that a media company has had such a long-standing partnership with the Kentucky Derby.
Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen expressed his pride in the continued partnership with NBC Sports, highlighting the artful storytelling and coverage of the event that NBC has provided. Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports, echoed this sentiment by affirming the network’s commitment to showcasing the rich stories surrounding the Kentucky Derby and maintaining the tradition of in-depth coverage and promotion.
As part of the extended agreement, NBC Sports will have multiplatform rights to broadcast the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and Derby and Oaks Day programming on NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and other NBCUniversal platforms. The Kentucky Derby is America’s oldest continuously held major sporting event, and today it will hold its 150th “Run for the Roses” at 2:30 p.m. ET. Coverage will be available on NBC and Peacock. The partnership between NBC Sports and Churchill Downs looks set to continue delivering comprehensive and immersive coverage of this iconic event for years to come.
