Maren Louridas, a sophomore at the Naval Academy, has been recognized for her excellence both on the basketball court and in the classroom. She was honored as part of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, which comes in addition to her previous selection to the 2023-24 Patriot League All-Academic Team. Louridas is one of six student-athletes from the conference to receive this nationwide accolade.
Louridas has been an integral member of the Navy basketball team for two seasons, starting in 60 out of a possible 61 games and scoring 528 points for an average of 8.7 points per game. She has also been a standout on the boards, with 317 rebounds at a rate of 5.2 per game. Known for her strong one-on-one defense, Louridas has played significant minutes in both her freshman and sophomore seasons and currently ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career record book with an average of 31.9 minutes per game.
In addition to her success on the court, Louridas has excelled academically, maintaining a perfect GPA in cyber operations over her first three semesters at the Naval Academy. She has received three Commandant’s List accolades and was named to the 2022-23 Patriot League Honor Roll.
The Navy basketball program had a successful season, achieving one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in NCAA Division I history. The team increased their win total by 13 games and finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Patriot League, just one game out of second place.
