The U.S. House of Representatives’ House Oversight Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs recently held a Field Hearing titled “Drilling Down: Oversight of the Challenges and Opportunities Facing the U.S. Energy Production.” During the hearing, Energy Workforce & Technology Council President Tim Tarpley and EWTC Board Member Ron Gusek testified to address the challenges faced by American energy producers, particularly those caused by regulatory uncertainty due to administration policies.
The focus of the hearing was on identifying solutions to overcome these challenges and how they can help expand the energy workforce through career training opportunities. However, Tarpley also highlighted the growing global demand for energy, which is expected to increase by 50% by 2050 according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). He underscored the importance of natural gas power generation in meeting this demand and called for a significant buildout in this sector.
Gusek, who is both President of Liberty Energy and an EWTC board member, echoed Tarpley’s concerns about regulatory obstacles hindering domestic energy production. He emphasized the need for a balanced approach to energy production and consumption in order to meet growing demands without compromising on economic stability or politically driven attacks on the industry that could harm American consumers and have global repercussions.
Overall, both Tarpley and Gusek emphasized the importance of addressing regulatory uncertainty while also recognizing the necessity for continued investment in natural gas power generation in order to meet future energy demands while maintaining economic stability and security for American citizens.
