Two Helena breweries recently made history at the World Beer Cup, with Lewis and Clark Brewing Company winning gold and Copper Furrow Brewing taking home a bronze award. The competition saw over 2,000 breweries submit over 9,000 beers for consideration, with judges awarding around 300 prizes in 100 categories.
Lewis and Clark Brewing Company’s Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen American wheat beer was the standout winner, earning its second gold medal at the World Beer Cup. Owner Max Pigman couldn’t be more proud of his team for their dedication to quality and consistency in creating this cloudy citrus-flavored beer that is 5% alcohol. Pigman believes that Miner’s Gold is the perfect go-to beer for any occasion.
Copper Furrow Brewing also made history by winning its first medal at the World Beer Cup with Tmavé, an international dark lager. Head brewer Nick Diehl emphasized the significance of the recognition from expert beer judges, noting that Tmavé is a complex lager with a rich, slightly roasted taste similar to a pilsner but with more depth. As the sole brewer at Copper Furrow Brewing, Diehl’s win was even more rewarding for him.
Two other Montana breweries also earned bronze awards at the World Beer Cup: Sacred Brewing Company in Kalispell and MAP Brewing Company in Bozeman. These awards showcase the high quality and diverse range of craft beer being produced in Montana, further solidifying its reputation as a hub for great beer.
