Ronald Acuna Jr. is expected to sign with Rimas Sports for his marketing and off-field business, according to sources cited by Brittany Ghiroli of THE ATHLETIC. The agency, led by artist Bad Bunny, is facing disciplinary actions from the MLBPA due to its past controversies. William Arroyo, a Rimas agent who had his license revoked, and two other employees pending certification will not receive their licenses. This leaves the agency with just one certified agent, Michael Velazquez, raising concerns about Rimas’ long-term viability in baseball.
Acuna had previously worked with Xample for his marketing and branding but they are not listed as his agent at the MLBPA. His previous representation was Peter E. Greenberg and Associates who negotiated his contract extension before being acquired by Rep 1 Baseball in February 2020. When asked if he had signed with Rimas, Acuna said it had not happened yet but indicated that it was likely to occur soon. It is believed that Acuna is not signing with Rimas to be his agent but rather to handle his marketing and off-field business needs. The exact reason for Rimas’ disciplinary action from the MLBPA remains unknown at this time.
