Miba, a leading industrial company from Upper Austria, specializes in producing high-quality technologies used in gears, rotors, and electronics for wind turbines and components for electric vehicles. Last year, the company experienced tremendous growth, with sales increasing by 8.1 percent to 1.205 billion euros. This growth was driven by strong demand from both the industrial goods sector and the automotive business.
Despite the success of its products in the wind energy and e-mobility sectors, Miba has remained tight-lipped about its profitability for several years. However, CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer remains optimistic about the company’s future prospects. He is confident that Miba’s ongoing investments in production facilities will continue to drive growth in these sectors.
In particular, Miba has seen significant success in the wind energy sector over the past two years, with sales tripling thanks to innovative solutions like plain bearings for gears and friction pads for brakes. These components are installed in towering wind turbines capable of generating electricity for up to 80,000 households. In addition to its success in wind energy, Miba has also seen impressive growth in the e-mobility sector, with sales of components such as battery systems and pulse inverters tripling over the same period.
Miba remains committed to its global presence and continues to invest heavily in research and development. The company registered nearly half of its 48 new patents and utility models last year in the e-mobility sector alone. Despite challenges such as rising labor costs and concerns about Austria’s competitiveness as a manufacturing location, Miba is determined to maintain its position at the forefront of technological innovation in these industries.
Today, Miba operates across Europe, Asia, North America, and South America through its 29 locations worldwide employing over 7600 people globally including nearly 3000 workers based in Austria alone.
