Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center expansion and renovation project has received a $50,000 donation from Cooper Farms, bringing the total funds raised to over $600,000. The project aims to provide a safer space for cesarean procedures, additional space for increasing births, an enhanced nursery for unique situations, and continued quality childbirth services for the local community.
The Delivering on a Promise campaign, which supports the project, was started last summer with a generous $1 million donation from the Walter and Evelyn Braun Family. With an increasing number of births each year, additional space is required to accommodate the growing demand for childbirth services.
Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation and Volunteer Services at Mercer Health, emphasizes the importance of a successful campaign to ensure adequate funds for the project. Hemmelgarn highlights that childbirth centers are closing in Ohio and across the nation due to funding issues but Mercer Health is enhancing its services due to its commitment to the community and the community’s commitment to them.
