Two Helena breweries, Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. and Copper Furrow Brewing, have made history at the 2024 World Beer Cup, the most prestigious beer competition in the world. The event recognized the best in brewing excellence from around the globe, with a panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries determining this year’s winners.
Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. captured a gold medal for their Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen in the American Wheat Beer category. This beer is a tribute to Montana’s miners who searched tirelessly for gold in the region. Made from malted wheat and Montana-grown barley, it’s sure to impress any beer lover looking for something unique and authentic.
On the other hand, Copper Furrow Brewing secured a bronze medal for their Tmavé Pivo in the International Dark Lager category. This dark Czech lager features flavors of bread crust, caramel, and a hint of coffee roast in the finish. Crafted with heritage Vienna and black malt, it goes through an intensive brewing process using Cz Saaz hops, Budvar yeast, and natural carbonation.
The World Beer Cup is known as “the Olympics of Beer” because it acknowledges brewing excellence from all over the world. This year’s winners were chosen based on thousands of entries from hundreds of breweries across fifty countries. The award ceremony took place on April 24th at The Venetian in Las Vegas where winners were honored for their achievements in 110 different beer-style categories. The competition was started by the Brewers Association back in 1996 as a way to celebrate both the art and science of brewing.
