A group of Israeli and American citizens who were affected by the 7/10 events are suing protest organizations at US universities for their ties to Hamas. The lawsuit aims to disconnect these organizations from Hamas and educate students involved in protests about their behavior. Additionally, the plaintiffs hope to hinder the fundraising and operations of these groups on campuses and obtain more information about the flow of support to terrorist organizations.
According to legal firms like Greenberg Traurig, NJAC, Schoen, and Holtzman Vogel, there was a coordinated social media campaign following Hamas’s attack on Israel. Messages justifying the attack were spread by members of the AMP and NSJP. The lawsuit mentions a document called the ‘NSJP Toolbox,’ which was distributed to protest leaders on campuses with instructions on propaganda management, recruitment strategies, and legitimizing violence.
The prosecutors allege that the AMP and NSJP were involved in planning events that targeted the American economy in solidarity with Hamas and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. These organizations are accused of being the PR arm of terrorist groups, recruiting soldiers, spreading propaganda, and inciting violence to influence US policy and support Hamas’s goals. The plaintiffs are seeking compensation directly from these organizations as per court decision.
Richard Rosenbaum, president of Greenberg Traurig expressed his pride in representing the plaintiffs and ensuring that evidence of defendants’ violations is presented in court. He emphasized their commitment to seeking justice for those affected by terrorist actions and bringing accountability to organizations that collaborated with terrorists.
