Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz about men’s basketball, which may have left some feeling out of touch with what was happening in the Kentucky Wildcats football program. With spring ball now over, we have a better understanding of the team’s composition for the upcoming fall season. In recent news, 247 Sports ranked each SEC football team, with Georgia leading the way and Texas coming in second place in their first year in the conference.
Kentucky was ranked at number 12, which may have been slightly disappointing for some. According to Brad Crawford from 247 Sports, the Wildcats are expected to be one of the faster teams in the league this season. With standout players like Barion Brown and Dane Key on board, much of Kentucky’s success will depend on new offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan’s ability to integrate first-year QB Brock Vandagriff with these speedy players.
Despite losing key players like running back Ray Davis, it is believed that Kentucky will excel in the trenches with experienced linemen leading the team. The Wildcats are expected to have a strong presence on both sides of the line of scrimmage, with veterans taking on key roles. Crawford emphasized the importance of Vandagriff and Hamdan in ensuring that Kentucky remains competitive against other talented SEC teams.
Kentucky’s season will kick off on Saturday, August 31st, with a game against Southern Miss at Kroger Field.
