The Jets have announced that they will be retaining head coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas for the 2024 season. However, the team has made some changes to their sports performance and sports science staff. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, director of high performance Brad DeWeese is no longer with the organization, along with assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman and director of sports science Matt Sams who were hired under Saleh in 2021.
In a surprising move, Alexander Carnall has been appointed as the sports science coordinator. No new additions have been made on the performance side of things, but Cimini reports that the departures were not performance-based. Instead, Douglas noted that the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the last two seasons played a role in these decisions.
To address this issue, the team acquired veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses in hopes of improving the line’s performance. Keeping these players healthy will be crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming 2024 season. The Jets are hoping that these changes will lead to a healthier and more successful season for their players and fans alike.
