The International Network for Government Science Advice, known as Ingsa, is set to hold its 10th anniversary conference in Rwanda this week. This global conference will be the organization’s fifth in-person event (sixth if you include a virtual conference held in 2020) and marks the first time it will be held in a Global South country.
Rémi Quirion, president of Ingsa, recently spoke to Research Professional News (RPN) ahead of the conference. In his interview, he highlighted the importance of the event and what it means for the future of science advice in government.
“The conference provides an opportunity for members to come together, share knowledge, and collaborate on advancing science advice in government,” said Quirion. “It also allows us to celebrate our first decade and look forward to what lies ahead.”
Quirion added that holding the conference in Rwanda was a deliberate choice to showcase the organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. “We wanted to demonstrate our support for countries in the Global South and provide a platform for them to share their experiences and perspectives,” he said.
