Aditi Swami, the reigning under-18 and senior World Archery Champion, expressed her excitement at the team’s success in the final of the World Cup. She hopes that India will repeat their victory from last year, where both men and women won team gold medals. The Indian team lineup includes Swami, Asian Games Champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Parneet Kaur. However, they are currently without their coach, Sergio Pagni, who was instrumental in their successes last season and is attending a camp in India.
In the final match against Italy, Marcella Tonioli acknowledged that there were some errors made during the competition. But overall it was a great contest between two of the world’s top archery teams. The 10th seeded Dutch men also secured their spot in the final after winning a tiebreak against France. Mike Schloesser led the way with three perfect X-ring 10s as he helped his team defeat France to win bronze medals at the end of the session.
Schloesser was surprised by their victory considering they entered the tournament as underdogs. He stated that it was an incredible achievement for his team to have won gold medals in such a strong competition. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan women’s team and Korean men’s team both earned bronze medals at the end of first session of competition which will continue this afternoon with recurve qualifying.
