Indian 4x400m Relay Teams Secure Olympic Qualification despite Injury

India’s men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of Anas Yahiya, Ajmal, Rajiv, and Jacob, seized their second chance and ran an impressive season’s best time of 3:03.23 to secure a spot in the event. Rajesh Ramesh had to withdraw from the race on Saturday due to injury, causing a did not finish (DNF) for India. In the women’s 4x400m relay race, the Indian team of Rupal, Dandi, Poovamma, and Venkatesan clocked a time of 3:29.35 to finish behind Jamaica in their heat and earn a quota for India. Rupal replaced Vithya Ramraj in this race. Despite not starting in the second heat of the mixed relay qualifying round, India still has a chance to qualify a team for the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics as two quotas will be distributed based on the top list during the qualification period between December 31, 2022 and June 30th , 2024.
