Illinois Man Sets World Record with 26,100 Squats in Just 24 Hours

Tony Piraino of Decatur, Illinois, set out to break the Guinness World Record for most squats in 24 hours by doing 26,100 squats. The previous record was set by Joe Reverdes from Rhode Island in 2020 with 25,000 squats. Piraino not only exceeded Reverdes’ total but also surpassed his own goal of 26,000 squats. However, the video evidence of his attempt still needs to be reviewed by Guinness World Records for official certification.

Piraino started his squats at 5 a.m. on Thursday and continued until 5 a.m. on Friday, completing the challenge within the 24-hour window. He took 30-second breaks after each set of 22 squats, with longer breaks interspersed to ensure he had enough energy for the grueling challenge.

The record-breaking attempt was not only a personal achievement for Piraino but also a way to raise money for the Marion County Horizon Center of Decatur and Mount Zion. This organization provides housing, employment opportunities, and other resources for adults with developmental disabilities. Through his incredible feat, Piraino was able to support a worthy cause while showcasing his determination and physical endurance.

Tony Piraino’s journey began when he first learned about the Marion County Horizon Center of Decatur and Mount Zion from a friend who worked there. He was inspired by their mission and wanted to do something meaningful to help them achieve their goals.

Piraino spent months training for this event, practicing different forms of exercise that would strengthen his legs and core muscles. He also made sure to eat well and get enough sleep so he could endure the grueling challenge ahead.

On the day of the event, Piraino arrived at the location where he planned to perform his squats early in the morning so he could set up everything properly before starting his journey towards breaking the record.

As he began taking breaks between sets of squats, Piraino noticed that it wasn’t just him who was feeling exhausted – everyone around him seemed drained as well. But he pushed on through it all, determined to complete his goal no matter what it took.

When it was all over and Piraino had completed an impressive number of squats within the 24-hour window, he felt an overwhelming sense of pride knowing that he had accomplished something truly remarkable while supporting a great cause at the same time.

Now that Guinness World Records needs to review video evidence from Tony’s attempt before officially certifying him as having broken their previous record for most squats in 24 hours by doing an impressive number of reps within that time frame
