Augustine, a 19-year-old goalie for Michigan State University’s men’s hockey team, has been added to the USA Hockey roster for the upcoming World Championship. He was previously on the roster as a freshman this season and played in 35 games. Augustine posted impressive statistics during his time at MSU, earning Second Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman Team honors. He also won Most Outstanding Player in the Big Ten Tournament and was voted the Most Valuable Player by his team.
Augustine is a product of the USA Hockey Development Program and hails from South Lyon, Michigan. Prior to playing at MSU, he spent two full seasons for Team USA, backstopping the national team to a gold medal in the 2024 IIHF World Junior Tournament. This past season at MSU, Augustine quickly became a fan favorite and had several standout performances, including a 34-save shutout at Ohio State in November and saving 60 out of 64 shots in a win over No. 1 Wisconsin.
The Red Wings are well represented by USA Hockey with Augustine joining Detroit goalie Alex Lyon and defenseman Jeff Petry on the roster. Additionally, Derek Lalonde serves as head coach while Alex Westlund is on the coaching staff. It is an honor for Augustine to be selected to represent his country May 10-26 in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia during the upcoming World Championship tournament.
