Ho Chi Minh City and Nvidia have come together to support the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the city. The initiative aims to make Ho Chi Minh City a leading AI technology center, with a focus on training human resources in the industry. This collaboration recognizes the potential for Ho Chi Minh City to become one of the top 5 cities globally in AI.
During a meeting between Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai and Nvidia Vice President Keith Strier on April 26, Mr. Strier commended the city’s preparation in the field of AI, given its abundance of resources such as nearly 100 universities and around 1 million IT engineers capable of delving into AI. Nvidia recognizes the importance of modernizing the city’s IT infrastructure, including cloud computing and data centers, as well as enhancing human resource skills and business capacity to keep pace with AI development.
As part of this collaboration, Nvidia Vice President Keith Strier pledged to work with Ho Chi Minh City to organize AI human resource training programs for university lecturers and students, as well as enhance AI technology expertise for local businesses. He stressed that leadership determination and vision are crucial in AI development, stating that Vietnam has the potential to excel in this field. The aim is for Ho Chi Minh City to emerge as a global leader in AI technology.
Moving forward, Ho Chi Minh City leaders and Nvidia will establish a joint working group to strategize and advise on priority areas in AI development. The city’s budget and public-private partnership policy will play key roles in deploying these infrastructures, with the goal of positioning Ho Chi Minh City as a hub for AI research and development in various sectors such as administration, health, education, and urban management.
