Talk on the Science of Light to be Held at Museum of the Rockies

Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam, the director of Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab, will be discussing the various applications of photons in science and innovation at the Museum of the Rockies on April 24 at 6 p.m. This talk is part of the Science Inquiry Series and is titled “Telecommunications to Teleportation: Making Light Work.”

During his presentation, Dr. Rupavatharam will share his knowledge on photonics, the science of light, and how it can be utilized in applications ranging from remote sensing and holographic imaging to quantum teleportation and communication. He obtained his Ph.D. in optical physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India and has worked at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden before joining MSU Spectrum Lab. In addition, he serves on the board of directors for the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance.

The Science Inquiry Series talks are free and open to the public, and are sponsored by Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences and Hopa Mountain. The event will be hosted by the Museum of the Rockies, with a question and answer session to follow Dr. Rupavatharam’s presentation.
