The organization demands a complete cessation of aggression, withdrawal of occupation forces, return of displaced individuals, assistance to the people, reconstruction efforts, and a serious exchange agreement. Israeli mediators have proposed a truce to Hamas, suggesting a temporary ceasefire of 40 days in exchange for the release of hostages with the possibility of extending the ceasefire.
One of the contentious points in the negotiations is the demand for a total end to the Israeli offensive. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that war will continue until all objectives are achieved, which include ending Hamas in Gaza and recovering hostages. However, Hamas is expected to respond early next week to this proposal with Israel pressuring them to adopt it and warning an offensive in Rafah if they fail to meet this deadline.
