The Skytrax World Airport Awards are determined by customer satisfaction surveys, and in recent years, Doha’s Hamad International and Singapore Changi airports have dominated the race for the title of the “world’s best airport.” However, in 2024, Hamad International secured the top spot, ending Singapore’s 12-year winning streak. Seoul Incheon secured the third spot and was also recognized as the most family-friendly airport of 2024, while Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports claimed the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The rankings were based on customer satisfaction surveys conducted across more than 300 airports worldwide. Hong Kong airport made a significant jump, moving up 22 places to 11th after recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. European airports continued to perform well, with Paris Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Zurich, and Istanbul maintaining positions in the top 10.
In other notable movements, New York’s JFK fell to 93rd place while LaGuardia improved to 33rd. Melbourne remained the top-ranked Australian airport at 19th place while London Heathrow moved up one spot to 21st. Gatwick climbed seven places to 48th position. Japanese airports dominated this year’s rankings with Okinawa being the biggest climber moving from 199th to 91st position.
