Jasson Dominguez, the 21-year-old outfielder for the New York Yankees, is making progress in his recovery and rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery, according to manager Aaron Boone. Boone stated that Dominguez is nearing the start of playing in rehab games and will begin as a designated hitter for the first two weeks before transitioning back to the outfield.
Dominguez has been actively participating in live batting practices and defensive drills in recent weeks as he continues to progress in his rehab. The switch-hitter had Tommy John surgery seven months ago on September 20 and has been steadily increasing his baseball activities since then.
In early February, Dominguez began throwing and started hitting off a tee at the end of the month. By March, he had progressed to throwing from 75 feet and hitting from both sides of the plate as he continues to work towards returning to full strength. The young outfielder made his Major League debut last season on September 1 and showed promise in eight games before his injury.
As the Yankees’ top prospect and ranked 37th overall in MLB Pipeline, Dominguez’s return to the field is eagerly anticipated by the team and fans alike. With his rehab progressing well, he is on track to make a strong comeback once he is fully recovered from his surgery.
