NC A&T hosts Gov. Cooper and astronaut for discussion on public education and science

William Gray, a student at NC A&T, is currently working in a lab where he is learning about automation. He expressed his excitement about the research being conducted in the lab and the involvement of various departments. Gray mentioned that showcasing their work to astronauts and the governor demonstrates the college’s advanced capabilities.

NC A&T has a longstanding relationship with NASA, as Chancellor Harold Martin Sr. mentioned that they have sent numerous Aggies to the space agency over the years. This connection has allowed students like Gray to engage in cutting-edge research and projects. During a recent event, NASA astronaut Christina Koch, who holds the record for the longest space flight by a woman, shared her experiences in space with an audience. She used a classroom projector to show North Carolina from space, emphasizing the significance of her home state in her journey.

Governor Cooper emphasized the importance of investing in public schools in North Carolina during an upcoming budget proposal to the State Assembly. He stressed that supporting education is essential for the state to maintain its status as a leader in business and technology. Cooper urged legislators to prioritize funding for schools to ensure the continued development of the state’s workforce.
