The Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (C4IR) is a new unit that aims to advise and pilot new technologies, proposing the implementation of national industrial policies. Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, shared this information at a conference on April 25 titled “Industrial Revolution 4.0 Center is a new driving force for sustainable development.”
Ho Chi Minh City and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have signed an agreement to establish C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park. This will be the second center in Southeast Asia after Malaysia in 2023 and the 19th in the world. Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan stated that C4IR will collaborate with leading technology enterprises in Vietnam to leverage the global C4IR network’s knowledge and experience, proposing solutions and policies that align with national and international technology trends.
C4IR operates under the autonomy of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee with a leadership team, operations division, and support sector. The leadership team includes representatives from government, businesses, and schools, with leading businesses participating in implementing innovation initiatives. The operations division pilots new technology products and engages with stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem while the support sector builds the community, provides financial support and facilitates knowledge sharing activities.
The operating model project of C4IR is currently under completion stage defining development roadmap and organizational structure. It is expected to be submitted to Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee by end of May with launch planned for September during Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum event.
