Bryan Patrick, at just four years old, has recently completed writing his first book and is now setting his sights on becoming the youngest author in the world. Currently held by Saeed Rashed AlMheiri, who is only a few months older than Bryan, this title is a testament to the young boy’s determination and passion for letters.
Bryan’s journey to becoming an author began when he was just a toddler and exhibited a fascination with letters. His parents, both educators, Eleanor and Ervin Patrick, noticed this interest and encouraged it by taking him to places like the Alphabet Museum and hosting alphabet-themed parties for him.
This love for letters evolved into a project when Bryan decided he wanted to create an alphabet garden with plants that matched each letter. His parents supported him in this endeavor, along with his other academic pursuits such as reading fluently, knowing letter sounds and numbers as well as being able to multiply and divide – skills usually mastered by children in higher grades. However, due to his advanced abilities, his parents have had to grapple with finding an appropriate grade level for him. They emphasize that much of his learning has been self-taught.
Every night, Bryan would type out the alphabet slowly progressing into sentences and eventually completing a book within a month. To achieve the title of the world’s youngest author, he must sell 1000 copies of his book. In pursuit of this goal, his family is organizing a book launch party in New Bern North Carolina. Bryan’s story is truly remarkable showcasing the power of passion determination and family support in achieving extraordinary things at a very young age.
