Ford recalling over 450,000 vehicles for potential drive power loss

In the United States, Ford is recalling over 450,000 compact SUVs and pickup trucks due to a potential battery issue that could result in a loss of drive power, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The affected models include Ford Bronco Sport SUVs manufactured between 2021 and 2024, as well as Ford Maverick pickups made between 2022 and 2023.

Ford identified a risk of low battery charge going undetected and leading to a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights or drive power, which could increase the chances of a crash. The automaker emphasized their commitment to customer safety and satisfaction by stating that they are prioritizing safety and taking proactive measures to address the issue promptly and effectively.

To solve the problem, owners will need to take their vehicles to a Ford dealership where the body control module and powertrain control modules will be recalibrated at no cost. Customers can also opt for Ford’s mobile service and pick-up and delivery option for the necessary fix. Notification letters will be sent out by May 13th, and affected owners can reach out to Ford at 1-866-436-7332 with the recall number 24S24 for more information.
