Jesse Puljujarvi and Valtteri Puustinen, two forwards of Team Finland, have been chosen to represent their country at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia. Both players have previous experience representing Finland at international events.
Puustinen, who is 24 years old, played in 52 games with Pittsburgh this season, scoring 20 points (5G-15A). He led Penguins rookies in goals, assists, and points. In addition to his time with the NHL team, Puustinen also played 24 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, where he recorded 13 points and led the team with three points in two playoff games.
Puljujarvi is a little older at 25 years old and joined Pittsburgh on a professional tryout in December 2023. After signing a two-year contract with the Penguins on February 4th, he played 22 games with the NHL team during the 2023-24 season, scoring four points. Before joining Pittsburgh, Puljujarvi tallied nine points in 13 games with the WBS Penguins.
