In Lexington on June 8th, UK HealthCare is hosting the ‘Be Healthy Bash’ at the Fayette County Extension Office. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and its focus is on nutrition, fitness, and emotional wellness to promote overall well-being in the community.
The Be Healthy Bash offers attendees a range of activities to choose from, including health screenings, access to health and wellness resources, free food, cooking demonstrations, taste testing, emotional wellness activities, physical activities and games, inflatables for kids and adults, a petting zoo, safety education at Safety City, a smoothie bike, a meet and greet with UK’s Wally Cat, live music, and other activities.
The event was initially conceived by the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center as a way to provide access to healthy foods in the community. However, it has evolved beyond its original vision to include various health and wellness services aimed at helping individuals achieve a healthy lifestyle regardless of their background.
The Be Healthy Bash is presented by UK HealthCare and University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service with support from several organizations such as the UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center, UK HealthCare’s Healthy Kentucky Initiative
