Jonathan Armstrong starts by discussing the challenges posed by AI in relation to data privacy regulations. He specifically mentions how GDPR has put pressure on companies to be more transparent about their use of customer data, which can be difficult for AI systems that rely on vast amounts of data to function effectively. Jonathan also talks about the case of Clearview AI, a controversial facial recognition company that has faced criticism for its collection and use of biometric data without consent.
Eric Sinrod then takes over and expands on these topics. He looks at how US privacy law applies to AI, particularly in cases where data is being collected and processed across national borders. Eric also discusses issues surrounding contracts related to AI, including liability when something goes wrong or when a contractor fails to deliver on their obligations. He also touches on torts and their role in regulating AI systems.

Eric discusses some recent examples of biased algorithms used in hiring, lending, and other areas where decisions have significant consequences for individuals and communities alike.
