Josselyn, a mental health provider in Lake County, has undergone an expansion to provide accessible services to the entire county. Susan Resko, CEO and president of the community mental health center, shared that the clinics currently serve 8,000 clients and receive over 1,000 calls every month. Despite the subsiding of the pandemic, the demand for mental health services remains high.
The recent growth of Josselyn has allowed individuals in areas like Waukegan, Grayslake, and Highland Park to receive treatment more easily. Camilo Morales, clinical coordinator at Josselyn, expressed pride in the center’s ability to reach more people than before. The center now offers a Spanish language option on its website and bilingual therapists like Morales to help Spanish-speaking clients effectively.
Robert Robbins was once a client of Josselyn who found solace at the center after struggling with homelessness and substance abuse for many years. Robbins attributed his 11 years of sobriety and pursuit of becoming a certified recovery support specialist to Josselyn. Chloe Brodner, assistant director of clinic services at Josselyn highlighted that the center has over 100 therapists on staff offering various forms of therapy, including an expressive arts program incorporating art, dance, and music to meet clients’ diverse needs.
