Despite challenges facing many electric vehicle markets, there are some corners where buyers like Chris Russo are thriving. Russo, the co-founder of Elite Home Care in South Carolina, has been running a successful business transporting senior citizens using electric vehicles for over two years now. He started with a Ford E-Transit van and has since added several more EVs to his fleet, making it almost entirely electric.
For Russo, the benefits of EVs are clear. He estimates saving $6,500 per year per EV compared to gas-powered vehicles of the same size due to lower fuel and maintenance costs. Additionally, with 100 chargers at his vehicle depot, his fleet can run efficiently and effectively without any concerns about charging infrastructure.
Russo’s success highlights how some businesses are fully embracing electric vehicles despite broader market challenges. With a strong commitment to sustainability and cost savings, these companies are demonstrating the potential for EVs to transform not just individual transportation but also commercial operations at scale.
