The sixteenth session of the World Future Energy Summit, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), drew to a close on Thursday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. This annual forum brings together experts in sustainability, energy, transportation, and urban planning to discuss future plans and solutions in the fields of electric mobility and smart cities.
The final day of the summit focused on electric mobility and smart cities, with extended working hours due to favorable weather conditions. Sessions at the Electric Mobility Forum discussed preparations for the adoption of autonomous transportation, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between stakeholders in the green transportation sector. The UAE’s efforts to increase the sales of new energy vehicles to 50% by 2030 were highlighted.
Speakers, such as Naveen Ahmed from Pakistan and Chris Wan from Masdar City, shared insights on prioritizing electric vehicles to mitigate pollution and the importance of sustainable urban planning. The summit also announced a new project in clean energy and climate action in cooperation between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
In addition to these discussions, areas dedicated to supporting innovation and startup companies were also featured at the event. The Climate Innovation Exchange Forum (Clix) initiative was showcased alongside other products and solutions focused on sustainability.
