Brandon Johnson of Jamico Construction, a good friend to Victoria Fluhart and her husband Justin, recently sold them a property in Waterloo where they planned to start an equine therapy business. Fluhart was excited to host an open house for her new venture when a sudden tornado hit the area. Despite the danger, she rushed to save the horses on the property, even though it meant risking her own safety. Sadly, Onyx, Fluhart’s beloved mare that she had owned for 18 years and considered more than just a horse but also a partner and therapist, did not survive the storm.
Fluhart’s loss was devastating; however, it did not deter her from pursuing her dream of offering equine therapy services in the community. With the support of her husband and the community, she is now focused on rebuilding their business after the tornado caused significant damage. The couple plans to construct a new building on the property and hopes to host their open house this summer thanks to donations from the community.
Despite everything that has happened, Fluhart expressed gratitude for the help they have received during the cleanup process and sees it as an opportunity to start anew. While there may be challenges ahead, she is determined to honor Onyx’s memory by fulfilling their shared dream of offering equine therapy services to those in need in their community.
